The George Mason men's basketball team closes out regular season play on Saturday meeting Duquesne for the eighth time in program history. Prior to tip, this year's senior class of Bryon Allen, Johnny Williams and Sherrod Wright will be recognized.
In the first meeting between the two squads exactly one month ago to the date, the Patriots recorded their first-ever Atlantic 10 Conference victory. Mason now leads the all-time series, 5-2, over the Dukes.
In Mason's last outing, the Patriots edged La Salle on the road, 59-57. Marko Gujanicic led Mason with 15 points, while Philadelphia native Erik Copes pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds.
Duquesne comes into Saturday's meeting having dropped three of its past four contests. The Dukes fell by four to UMass most recently after upsetting nationally-ranked Saint Louis in Missouri. Ovie Soko leads the Dukes and the A-10 in scoring, averaging 18.2 ppg.
The winner of Saturday's game will avoid the March 12 opening round game of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
