Wednesday is the first of a home-and-home series between the two teams this season. Maryland will travel to Fairfax to play the Patriots on April 8 at 3 p.m. The game on Tuesday will be played at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Md.
The Patriots played their inaugural Atlantic 10 series over the weekend, taking two of three games from Fordham to begin conference play with a 2-1 record. Mason is currently second in the Atlantic 10 with a 13-8 overall record and takes a break in conference play before a three game series with VCU this weekend.
Senior Michael Bowie makes his second start of the season after tossing three innings vs. North Carolina on March 11. Brandon Gum and Josh Leemhuis enter the game with active 10 game hittings streaks after they each had RBI singles on Sunday vs. Fordham.
Maryland has been in ACC conference play since March 7, currently holding a 5-4 conference record. The Terps won one of three vs. then no. 2 Florida St., one of three vs. no. then 13 North Carolina and most recently swept no. 11 NC State this past weekend. Maryland has recieved votes in the latest NCBWA poll and are ranked 25th in the most recent Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll.
