FAIRFAX, Va. - Recent graduate Hugh Robert's of the George Mason men's soccer team has signed a contract with the Richmond Kickers of the USL Professional Division, pending USSF approval.
Roberts impressed at the Kickers January 2014 pro combine, earning his first professional contract after making 69 appearances at George Mason University, finishing his collegiate career in 2013 with six goals and nine assists overall. Named to the A-10 All-Tournament Team and the All-Region Second Team his senior year, he anchored the defensive unit that led George Mason to the A-10 Championship in 2013 and a second round NCAA tournament appearance.
“Hugh is a great addition to the squad,” commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. “He's a young central defender with excellent physical attributes and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. He will learn from our veteran defenders and we expect to see strong gains in his development over the course of the season.”
The 6'4” native of Olney, MD also made 13 appearances with the Baltimore Bohemians of the USL Premier Development League, claiming All-Eastern Conference First Team honors last season.
