FAIRFAX, Va. – The sport of baseball has always been full of superstitions. Players will do whatever they need to do to win, such as not washing a pair of socks, eating the same pregame meal or most recently, growing out your beard. Here are some of the things that you will find members of this year's team doing on game day.
“I always lead with my left foot coming on and off the field.”
- 2B/SS Derek Evans, sophomore
“I'm not superstitious, but I am a littlestitious. Right sock has to go on before the left. Same with the cleats.”
- Catcher Isaac Geisler, sophomore
“I have somebody on the bench wear my watch while I pitch for good luck.”
- LHP Jared Gaynor, senior
“I try not to do anything specific. I like to stay consistent with a routine for pre-game and tell myself I have prepared in the off-season.”
- 1B/OF Mick Foley, senior
“Before I play I always have to have my hat on my head just right. I will adjust it from time to time throughout the game.”
- LHP Ryan Galvin, freshman
“(I have to) get dressed for games in the same order.”
- Catcher Ray Toto, junior
“I always rub a certain part of the label on the baseball off before I start warming up.”
- RHP Taylor Hunt, redshirt junior
“I never step on any line the day I am supposed to pitch.”
- LHP Tyler Kardas, freshman
“I will not change my undershirt if we are winning.”
- RHP Tyler Zombro, freshman
