Men's Volleyball Travels to Sacred Heart and Harvard to Open EIVA Play

Men's Volleyball Hosts St. Francis and Penn State This Weekend

The George Mason men's volleyball team hosts two EIVA matches this weekend. The Patriots take on St. Francis on Friday, February 28 and #10 Penn State on Saturday, March 1.  Both matches will be held at the RAC at 7:00 p.m.

Mason is coming off two EIVA wins in a row against NJIT and Rutgers-Newark last weekend.  Hunter Stevens helped sweep both EIVA opponents leading to being selected as the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week.  Stevens had 13 total blocks along with 19 kills in the two matches.

MENS VOLLEYBALL vs. St. Francis

Records: Mason (6-6); St. Francis (8-5)

When: Friday, February 28, 7:00 p.m.

Where: The RAC, Fairfax, Va.

NOTES:

This will be the 43rd time these two teams meet.  The Patriots and Red Flash split the series last season.

St Francis comes into this match with an overall record of 8-5 and a conference record of 3-2.  The Red Flash are coming off an EIVA win against Sacred Heart 3-1.

Freshman Kyle Beatty leads St. Francis with 128 total kills on the season.  Mike Kresch has dished out a team-high 480 assists this season.  Meanwhile, Lucas Behringer leads the Red Flash with 84 digs on defense.

Records: Mason (6-6); Penn State (12-2)

When: Saturday, March 1, 7:00 p.m.

NOTES:

This will be the 29th time these two teams meet since 2003.  The Patriots have an overall record of 2-26 against the Nittany Lions.

Penn State comes into this match with an overall record of 12-2 and a conference record of 5-0.  Penn State come into this match on a 12 match win streak.  They have also swept four straight EIVA opponents. The Nittany Lions will play Princeton on February 28 before travelling to Mason.

Aaron Russell leads Penn State with 176 total kills on the season.  Taylor Hammond has dished out a team-high 486 assists this season.  Meanwhile, Connor Curry also leads the Nittany Lions with 128 digs on defense.
