The George Mason men's basketball team wraps up this three-game homestand welcoming long-time rival Richmond to the Patriot Center on Wednesday. The Richmond Spiders own an all-time series record of 34-17 against the Patriots dating back to 1979. Mason took the last matchup in 2012 as Sherrod Wright hit a 3-pointer as time expired for a 67-64 Mason victory in the Governor's Holiday Hoops Classic.
Mason is coming off a tough overtime loss to No. 10 Saint Louis. For the second time this season, the Billikens escaped the Patriots in overtime. Wright posted a career night with 34 points to lead the way for Mason and set a career-high.
Richmond comes into Wednesday's meeting off a victory against La Salle. The Spiders have won four of their past five contests and own a 2-3 record in league road games. Cedrick Lindsay paces the Spider offense averaging 18.3 ppg and is third in the league in scoring.
