George Mason heads to the Bronx to face Fordham for its last regular season road trip Wednesday night at 7:00 in the first ever meeting between the two programs. When the Patriots face off with the Rams they will have officially taken on every A-10 team at least once in program history after entering the conference season with four previously unseen opponents.
Mason heads into the game off a narrow loss at St. Bonaventure Saturday afternoon where the Patriots late-game comeback bid fell short in the 57-53 decision. Taylor Brown and Sandra Ngoie each had 16 points in the losing effort, and Kyana Jacobs set a new career-high with a team-leading 11 rebounds. Fifth-year senior Janaa Pickard is hoping to close out her career with the Patriots on a high note as she strives to reach 1,000 points. The Philadephia, Pa. native is currently 42 points away with at least three games remaining in her Mason career.
The Rams are coming off a loss as well, dropping a 60-51 decision at Duquesne on Saturday. On the season, Fordham has five players averaging 8.9 points per game or more led by Erin Rooney with 18.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Abigail Coming also averages double-digits at 12.9 points per game. As a team, the Rams average just 67.9 points per game but mange to keep opponents to an average of 58 points per game. They also out-rebound opponents by an average margin of just over five boards per game.
Up next, the Patriots return home for Senior day Saturday, March 1st at 2:00 P.M. when they host Richmond. The last home game of the season is also Mason's annual Girl Scout game.
