Box Score Sophomore Jessie Greenslade led the Patriots with 14 kills as the women's volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-16; 11-25; 18-25; 18-25) to Davidson Friday at the RAC in front of a conference season record 447 fans.
The first set was back and forth as Mason and the Wildcats exchanged the lead four different times with 10 ties until the Patriots took the lead for good at 14-12 behind back-to-back kills from Greenslade, who would end the set hitting just under 67% with six kills including another pair of consecutive winners to close out the set at 25-16.
Set two started out in a similar fashion, however, it would be the Wildcats who would distance themselves after the set was tied at 3-3. Davidson would finish the set off on a 22-8 run to tie the match at 1-1. As a team, the Wildcats finished set two hitting over 52%.
DC's offensive assault continued into the third set with an 8-0 run before the Patriots registered their first point. However, Mason battled back with a series of small runs to get within 20-10. From there the Patriots would outscore the Cats 8-5 but the early hole proved too much as Davidson would hold on to take the set 25-18. Set four started on a series of small runs until the score was knotted up at 10-10. However, the Wildcats once again separated things with a 10-6 run to take the lead for good.
