30-Second Shot Clock Rule
The George Mason men's basketball team welcomes Shenandoah on Saturday in the lone exhibition game for the Patriots this season. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. in the Patriot Center. The game will feature a 30-second shot clock after the NCAA granted the A-10 permission for each of its members to use the experimental rule in two exhibition contests per member.
The Patriots return nine letterwinners from last season's squad, including leading rebounder and three-time A-10 Rookie of the Week selection, Jalen Jenkins. Patrick Holloway, the team's leading returning scorer from last season, averaged 8.7 points per game having appeared in all 31 contests.
Mason welcomes five newcomers this season in freshmen Isaiah Jackson, Eric Lockett, Therence Mayimba, Trey Porter and junior transfer Shevon Thompson. Redshirt junior Julian Royal will don the Green and Gold for the first time after redshirting last season due to NCAA transfer rules.
Shenandoah posted a 12-14 record last season and were picked to finish 11th in the ODAC Preseason poll.
