The George Mason men's basketball team returns from the Puerto Rico Tip-Off to host Manhattan on Saturday in the fourth meeting between the two teams. Mason leads the all-time series, 3-0, with the last meeting taking place in the Patriot Center in head coach Paul Hewitt's first season with the Patriots.
Mason is coming off the Puerto Rico Tip-Off where it faced West Virginia, New Mexico and College of Charleston. Junior Shevon Thompson posted a pair of double-doubles in the tournament, while setting the single-game PRTO record for rebounds, pulling down 19 against the Lobos. Thompson was named to the All-Tournament team for his efforts during the tournament.
Manhattan comes into Saturday's contest off the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off where it picked up its first win of the season over Binghamton. Manhattan most recently dropped a decision to Northeastern. Shane Richards leads the team offensively with a 15.3 points per game average, while Emmy Andujar averages 11.5 ppg and a team-best 6.0 rebounds per game.
