Four players hit double-digits as George Mason women's basketball (3-1) took a 71-61 win over College of Charleston (0-4) Sunday afternoon at the Patriot Center to complete the home stand with back-to-back wins.
“Every game we continue to do some good things, and find some things we need to work on,” head coach Nyla Milleson said.
Both teams started off cold with the Patriots shooting just 31 percent from the field and Cougars hitting just under 26 percent. The score would change hands twice with five ties, before the Patriots would take hold for good, taking a 27-21 lead into the break.
Things would heat up for the home team after intermission with 21-9 run over the first nine minutes to give Mason a 50-34 lead with just over 9 minutes to play. Taylor Brown registered 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Sandra Ngoie also had 19 on the day, going 5-for-9 from beyond the arc.
“When we're shooting it well, we're a very good basketball team,” Milleson said. “Getting Sandy on track is always one of our keys.”
Senior Talisha Watts added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks while redshirt junior Jasmine Jackson contributed 12 points and six rebounds.
Next up, the Patriots take off on a three-game road swing starting Tuesday at Navy. Stay up to date with Mason via GoMason.com or follow the team on Twitter (@MasonWBB).
