George Mason women's basketball (2-1) wraps up its season-opening home stand Sunday afternoon against the College of Charleston (0-3) at 2p.m. in the Patriot Center for just the second meeting between the two programs.
The Cougars took the only previous meeting last season in a narrow 66-64 decision in Charleston thanks to a layup from Christy Hewatt with under 25 seconds remaining in the game. Taylor Brown led the way for the Patriots in the 2013-14 loss with 18 points followed by Sandra Ngoie with 15. The Cougars return their leading scorer from that meeting as well in Afreyea Tolbert who led all scorers with 21 on the night.
Mason comes into the game looking to complete their first home stand with a winning record while the Cougars are still searching for their first win of the season. Last time out, the Patriots took a 110-91 win over Delaware State on Wednesday with five different Patriots reaching double-figures. Charleston was also in action on Wednesday, as CofC fell 68-55 at East Carolina.
