NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Michael Conway and Jennifer Nakamura have been selected to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team.
Conway, a fifth-year senior from West Hartford, Connecticut, has been a key runner for the men's cross country team this season. The distance runner finished second overall at the A-10 Championships to help lead the men's team to its first A-10 title. Conway also won the James Madison Invitational and the Mason Invitational this season. After earning a B.S. in criminology with a minor in Spanish, Conway is now working towards a M.S. in biodefense. The West Hartford native was honored by the selection.
"It's an honor to be selected to the A-10 Academic All-Conference team. To be recognized in my final year for my accomplishments academically and athletically makes me proud to be a student athlete at George Mason," said Conway.
Nakamura, a redshirt-junior from Fresno, California, has been a key runner for the women's cross country team this season. Nakamura has finished in the top three for Mason in each competition this year, including a second place finish at the Mason Invitational. A 2014 George Mason Provost Scholar Athlete, Nakamura has excelled in both academics and athletics. Nakamura is proud of being recognized for her hard work.
“I am excited to be recognized for an award that involves both athletics and academics, since I put substantial effort into both,” said Nakamura. The Fresno native is a psychology major and was previously recognized by the A-10 by making the Spring 2014 Commissioners Honor Roll.
