FAIRFAX, Va. – Fourth-year men's basketball head coach Paul Hewitt announced today Ahmad Gilbert has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Patriots for the 2015-16 season. Gilbert, a 6'6” small forward from Philadelphia, Pa., was named the Class AA State Player of the Year by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers following his junior year at Constitution High School.

“We're very happy to have Ahmad join our program,” commented Hewitt. “We feel he can have an immediate impact on our program as a scorer. He is a 6'6” left-hander and has shown the ability to score from three, high post and around the basket. We also are certain that he will fit in very well with our guys.”

The left-handed recruit helped Constitution to its second state title in three years after leading the team with a 15.7 points per game average. The Generals posted a 28-5 overall record last season, including an 8-2 Public League record. Gilbert, who also played with Team Final on the AAU circuit, was rated a three-star recruit from ESPN.com.

Mason opens the 2014-15 campaign on Friday, November 14 welcoming Cornell at 7:30 p.m.
