Box Score George Mason women's volleyball wrapped up its seven match road trip Friday night with a loss at George Washington 3-0 (21-25; 23-25; 25-21) despite 11 ties and six lead changes throughout the match.
The Patriots trailed early in the first set by as much 12-4 before 10-4 Mason run would cut the lead to 16-14. The set would remain close from there, though the Colonials would hold on for the 25-21 win.
The Green and Gold stuck with the Colonials from the start in set two, taking an early 6-3 lead on a four-point run behind the serving of Jelena Cobanovic. The Colonials would quickly respond, tying the set at 8-8 before pulling in front and holding on for the 25-23 win.
The Colonials once again seemed to hold a commanding lead in set three, taking an 8-2 lead. However, the Patriots responded with an 11-2 run to take a 13-11 lead. GW was quick to answer, and regained the lead at 14-13 and held on to take the match with a 25-21 win in set three.
The Patriots return home Friday November 7 when they host Davidson at 8 p.m. followed by Senior Night on Saturday when the VCU Rams head to Fairfax for the Patriots final home match of the season.
