The George Mason women's basketball team returns to the road to take on Dayton Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the second meeting between the two programs this season. The first meeting came in early January when the Flyers defeated Mason 91-64 at the Patriot Center. In that meeting, Taylor Brown led the way for the Patriots with 23 points, four assists and six rebounds followed by Janaa Pickard with 12 points and seven rebounds. The Flyers had five players in double figures led by Ally Mallott with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Mason is coming off a 64-45 loss to Duquesne at home. The Patriots out-rebounded the Dukes 42-40 but only registered two second chance points compared to Duquesne's 10. However, it was 26 Mason turnovers converted into 27 Duquesne points that truly did Mason in on Wednesday.
The Flyers are coming off a 75-63 loss at Saint Joseph's, their first loss in conference play. Dayton's entire starting five is averaging double digits led by Andrea Hoover with 15.9 points per game and Ally Malott with 14.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. As a team, as of Jan. 29, Dayton leads the Atlantic 10 in assists per game at 18.8, good for 10th in the nation. They are also atop the conference in three-point field-goal percentage (37.2) and scoring offense (85.3), which is good for sixth in the country.
