Men's Basketball Entertains No. 16 UMass on Wednesday

The George Mason men's basketball team welcomes nationally-ranked Massachusetts to the Patriot Center for the first-ever meeting between the programs in history on Wednesday. The game will be televised on MASN, Campus Insiders and SNY.

UMass, ranked No. 16 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll and No. 15 in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll, stands at 14-1 overall this season and has opened A-10 play with victories over Saint Joseph's and St. Bonaventure. The Minutemen's only loss this season came against Florida State in the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic by a 60-55 decision. Four players average double-figure scoring numbers on the year led by Chaz Williams with a 15.4 ppg average.

Mason comes into Wednesday's meeting looking for its first A-10 victory of the season after suffering a tough 84-80 loss to Saint Joseph's. Bryon Allen owns a 14.4 ppg average followed by Sherrod Wright with 13.3 ppg. Redshirt freshman Jalen Jenkins picked up A-10 Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 15.0 ppg and 9.5 rpg in Mason's two contests last week.
