RICHMOND, Va. – Redshirt freshman Jalen Jenkins was recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference Monday morning, earning Rookie of the Week honors for the Patriots' two games this past week. It marks Jenkins' first career weekly honor.
In Mason's two games, Jenkins averaged 15.0 points per game, 9.5 rebounds per game, recorded six steals and one block, while going 8-for-13 at the charity stripe and 11-for-18 from the field.
Mason opened A-10 conference play on Thursday, facing long-time rival VCU in Richmond. Earning his first career start as a Patriot, Jenkins posted his first career double-double behind a team-best 12 rebounds and 10 points.
Jenkins followed up that performance scoring a career-high 20 points against Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The Brooklyn, N.Y., native finished the contest with seven rebounds and a career-best five steals.
Mason returns to action welcoming nationally-ranked Massachusetts to the Patriot Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will be televised by Campus Insiders/SNY/MASN.
