The George Mason women's volleyball team closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule this weekend as the Patriots travel to the Spartan Spiketacular, hosted by the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

Mason (3-8) is coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Maryland Invitational last week. The Patriots dropped a five-set heartbreaker to Villanova and was swept by the host Terrapins before rebounding with a 3-1 win over New Hampshire. The Patriots rank eighth in the country in blocks per set, including redshirt sophomore Lolade Owokoniran who stands 11th in the individual rankings (1.53 bps). Lana Zonjic leads the offense with 108 kills (3.48 kps), a figure that ranks fifth in the Atlantic 10.

The Patriots' first opponent, the UNCG Spartans, welcome the field with a 5-4 record including a 1-1 mark at home this season. Olivia Humphries leads the offense with 108 kills (3.27 kps) as UNCG is coming off a 1-2 weekend at the University of Georgia's Benson's Hospitality Group Invitational.

TCU is 8-3 on the year including five straight victories at home. The last four came a week ago as the Horned Frogs captured the TCU/Nike Molten Invitiational at home. Ashley Smith and Yvonne Igodan power the TCU offense with 112 and 104 kills, respectively.

N.C. Central makes the short trip across the Tar Heel State seeking its first victory of the season. The Eagles are 0-13 on the season, falling to East Carolina in Durham its last time out. Da'Sha Brown is the top scorer for NCCU with 95 kills. 

Following this weekend's action, the Patriots open their inaugural season of Atlantic 10 play next weekend on the road, traveling to La Salle (Friday, Sep. 27) and Fordham (Saturday, Sep. 28). Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
