NEWS & NOTES
The George Mason women's soccer team concludes this season-opening road swing visiting No. 15 Maryland on Friday. The two squads met last season in Fairfax with the Terps defeating Mason, 3-1.

Mason opened the season at former conference foe William & Mary, playing to a 1-1 draw with the Tribe. Casey Vornadore scored Mason's lone goal early to put the visiting squad up before the home team rallied back to tie the game in the second half. In the first regional polls released this week, Mason entered the Mid-Atlantic poll at No. 10 alongside Navy.

Maryland, a 2012 NCAA Tournament participant, enters Friday's matchup with a 2-0 record having defeated The Citadel and Villanova, both at home. Hayley Brock leads the Terps with four goals on the season, while starting goalkeeper Rachelle Beanlands has allowed only two goals and made one save in both starts. Maryland climbed up the national charts to No. 15 this week.
