Women's Soccer Ranked 10th in NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The George Mason women's soccer team broke into the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's Regional Polls this week, earning a No. 10 spot in the Mid-Atlantic poll. The August 27 poll marks the first poll of the 2013 season.

The weekly poll, released on Tuesday, has Mason sharing the 10 spot with Navy in its first week. The Patriots opened the 2013 season playing to a 1-1 draw at William and Mary last Sunday. Casey Vornadore gave Mason the early 1-0 lead finding the back of the net in the 35th minute, but the Tribe evened the score in the 65th minute as the teams worked through two overtime periods to end in a 1-1 draw.

Fellow Atlantic 10 Conference member La Salle sits atop the weekly Mid-Atlantic Regional poll this week, after opening the season 2-0 with wins over James Madison and Old Dominion. Boston University comes in second, followed by Dayton, Colgate and Princeton to round out the top five. Former conference foe James Madison went 1-1 to open the season and earned a No. 6 regional ranking, while William & Mary sits in seventh place. Harvard ranked eighth, followed by Bucknell and Mason and Navy in 10th.

Mason returns to action traveling to No. 17 Maryland on Friday, Aug. 30. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
