FAIRFAX, Va. – First-year head women's basketball coach Nyla Milleson announced today Jasmine Jackson, a guard who played two seasons at Georgetown University, will transfer to George Mason University this fall. Jackson will redshirt the upcoming 2013-14 season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in the 2014-15 season.

“My staff and I are extremely excited Jasmine has decided to continue her career with us at George Mason,” commented Milleson. “She brings a tremendous amount of potential and experience into the program and the A-10. We can't wait to have her on campus and have the chance to work with Jasmine as a Patriot.”

Jackson appeared in 37 games for the Hoyas in two seasons, including 30 her sophomore season. During the 2012-13 campaign, Jackson averaged 4.2 points per game and 1.5 rebounds per game. The Old Bridge, N.J., native dished out 30 assists and managed 29 steals. A consistent shooter, Jackson connected on 47-of-58 (.810) attempts from the free throw line last season. While playing against Notre Dame, the sophomore drained a season-best 15 points on 4-for-16 shooting and hit a perfect 6-for-6 attempts at the charity stripe.

As a freshman with the Hoyas, Jackson appeared in seven games and averaged 2.0 ppg and 1.4 rbg. In her intercollegiate debut, Jackson recorded three points and two rebounds in the win over Longwood.

As a prep player at Old Bridge High School, Jackson hit the 1,000-career points mark as a junior and graduated as the leading scorer in Old Bridge history for boys or girls with 1,845 career points after averaging 30.2 ppg as a senior. A four-year letterwinner and three-year captain, she was also tabbed First Team All-State, All-Group and All-Middlesex Area as a senior. The 2010-11 team MVP, Jackson was a McDonald's All-American nominee and was selected No. 8 by MSG Varsity for the top girls basketball players in New Jersey. Additionally, Jackson was also named Second Team Junior All-State in 2009-10, First Team All-Group 4 and First Team All-Middlesex Area.

A two-sport athlete in high school, Jackson lettered in track & field for two years, earning First Team All-Area and holds the school records in the high jump and 200 meters.

Jackson will be reconnected with former Georgetown teammate Taylor Brown, who transferred to Mason last season after playing her freshman campaign with the Hoyas. She also joins newcomers Char-dell Dunnigan (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg), Brittany Jackson (Potomac, Md./Bullis School) and Denisha Petty-Evans (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater Raritan Regional) to the Patriots' roster for the 2013-14 season.
