PRINCETON, N.J. – Competing in the 100m hurdles on Saturday, Shavon Briscoe set a school record with a time of 13.42 to highlight George Mason's performances at day two of the IC4A/ECAC Championships at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University.
Briscoe won heat 4 and had the fastest time of the day to break a school record that had stood since 1997 (Renea Jordan – 13.44). Briscoe also teamed with Aneesha Scott, Cierra McGee and Katea Jemmott in the 4x100m relay, as the quartet won heat 4 and had the third-fastest time on the day to advance to Sunday's finals.
The 4x400m relay of Daianna Barron, McGee, Kristin Bethel and Dominique Graham also had an impressive showing, winning heat 4 and posting the fastest time of the day in the event, 3:37.78.
Also advancing to Sunday's finals were Scott (24.18) and McGee (23.97) in the 200m and Barron (54.47) in the 400m.
On the men's side David Verburg ran away with the 400m, recording the fastest time of the day and finishing over one second ahead of his nearest competitor with a time of 45.46. Later running with Angel Coburn, Adrian Vaughn and DaQuan Smalls, the 4x400m relay posted a season-best time and the fastest on the day of 3:09.99.
Vaughn also advanced in two events as an individual, winning heat 3 of the 200m and finishing with the second-fastest time of the day (20.96), and taking the final qualifying spot in the 100m after crossing the line in 10.80.
In the men's long jump, Byron Sintim won flight 1 and recorded a PR with a leap of 7.33m, while Travaughn Baker-Johnson finished ninth after jumping 7.11m.
Also competing at the meet on Saturday were Jemmott in the 100m (19 – 12.22), Jasmine Robinson in the 200m (24 – 24.76), Jasmine Moser in the pole vault (7 – 3.81m), 20. Smalls in the 200m (22.15), Parker Boudreau in the 1500m (18 – 3:57.59), Anthony Williams in the 110m hurdles (12 – 14.31), Wes Sun (10 – 4.80m) and Patrick Dietrick (14 – 4.80m) in the pole vault, Gustavo Osorio in the decathlon (6,422 pts.), and the men's 4x800m relay of Boudreau, Tyler Golden, Ryan McGreal and Wil McReynolds (18 – 7:48.49).
