GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Competing at the Pepsi Florida Relays, the George Mason track and field team saw almost all of its participating athletes post ECAC/IC4A qualifying marks or PR's in the first day of action at the meet.
For the women, both Cierra McGee and Daianna Barron recorded ECAC qualifying times in the 400m. McGee crossed the line in 53.98 and Barron in 55.51 to finish 17th and 38th, respectively. Besting a previous ECAC qualifying mark, Savon Briscoe finished 26th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.99, a PR and the fifth-best time in program history.
For the men, Travaughn Baker-Johnson finished second in the long jump with an IC4A distance of 7.27m. Byron Sintim also competed in the long jump, placing ninth with a PR of 7.00m. David Verburg added his name to the list of IC4A qualifiers, finishing third in the 400m with a time of 45.76, while Adrian Vaughn also qualified in the 200m with a time of 21.29, good for 21st overall.
The Patriots wrap up action at the Pepsi relays tomorrow, starting at 10:00 a.m.
