Mason men's tennis edged conference foe James Madison, 4-3 at the RAC Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon to improve to 11-5. It was the first time the Patriots defeated the Dukes on the hard court since they split two matches during the 1997-98 season. The top two Mason doubles teams snagged the doubles point. The team of Taylor Sargent and Tanner Baine defeated Madison's top team of Ryan Pool and Robert Stirling, 8-6. At No. 2 the Patriots duo of Scott Keaton and Jimmy Davis, won 8-5 against the Dukes Ramadier/Sentenac.

Mason and Madison split the six singles matches. After winning his doubles match with Baine, Taylor Sargent defeated Florent Sentenac at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4. Aaron Capitel at No. 6 won his match after edging the Dukes Maxi Branth, 7-6(2) in the first set, and finished with a 6-2 second set. The only match to go three sets was at No. 2 singles.
