The Georgetown Hoyas defeated George Mason 6-1 in Washington, DC today. The Hoyas finish their season with a 12-9 dual match record. Mason drops to 13-7 with one match remaining at Delaware on April 13th at 1:00 p.m.
Mason won the doubles point with victories at the first two positions. Top Mason doubles team of Taylor Sargent and Tanner Baine and the No. 2 team of Scott Keaton and Jordan Dyke each won with identical 8-5 results over their Georgetown opponents.
Georgetown responded by sweeping all six singles matches. The Patriots lost four closes matches. At the top singles position Jordan Dyke was edged in the first set 7-5, but bounced back with a second set win. In the third Dyke had a 4-0 lead but senior Charlie Caris battled back and took the match 7-5, 2-6, 6-4.
Tanner Baine was edged 7-5, 7-5 at third singles by Reese Milner. Mason's Scott Keaton lost to Shane Korber at four, 7-6 (5), 6-3. Taylor Sargent split the first two sets with Hoyas Alex Tropiano, but fell in the third, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
