The Patriots return to the court this weekend, traveling to
New Jersey to take on NJIT and Rutgers-Newark in EIVA action.
Mason is coming off of a five-set loss to No. 8 Lewis on
Wednesday. The Patriots took an early two set lead, but the Flyers rallied to
take the final three sets and sweep the home-and-home series between the two
teams. Mark Jones led all players with 22 kills.
Reigning EIVA Offensive Player of the Week Michael Kvidahl
leads the Patriots this season with a 3.28 kills/set average (5th
EIVA), while Jones follows closely at 3.26 kills/set and Javier Perez averages
10.30 assists/set (2nd EIVA). Defensively, Piotr Dabrowski has a
team and conference-best 1.31 blocks/set and Max McFarland leads the team with
2.52 digs/set (3rd EIVA).

Mason and NJIT are meeting for the second and final time
this season. The Patriots swept the Highlanders earlier this season in Fairfax,
hitting .385 as a team while limiting NJIT to just .069 hitting.
NJIT picked up its first conference win of the season on
February 23, knocking off Sacred Heart in straight sets. However, they enter
the weekend with two consecutive losses against EIVA competition, losing to
Saint Francis and Penn State last weekend.
Chris Kaepernick (2.26 kills/set) and Matthew Lui (7.33
assists/set) lead the Highlander offense, while Brady Smith has a
conference-best 2.63 digs/set and Doug Battersby has a team-best 0.68
blocks/set.
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL at RUTGERS-NEWARK

Where: The Golden Dome, Newark, N.J.
Mason will look for the regular season sweep of the Scarlet
Raiders on Saturday after topping Rutgers-Newark 3-0 on February 15. Mason hit
a season-best .435 and received 14 kills from Mark Jones and 10 from Andrew
Dentler in the win.
Rutgers-Newark hasn't recorded a win since January 26 when
it defeated Cairn in straight sets.
Manuel Felipez leads the team and ranks fourth in the EIVA
with 3.41 kills/set. Travis Mintzer averages a team-best 0.73 blocks/set.
