George Mason and Lewis meet for the second and final time of
the regular season on Wednesday, as the Flyers make the trip to Fairfax for a
7:00 p.m. match. The two teams last faced each other on January 26, as the
flyers escaped with a 3-2 win in Romeoville.
Mason enters the weekday match 7-7 overall, most recently sweeping
a pair of EIVA matches against No. 15 Harvard and Sacred Heart over the
weekend. For his efforts in helping the Patriots to big conference wins, senior
Michael Kvidahl was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the week. He finished
the weekend with a combined 26 kills, .353 hitting percentage and five service
aces in addition to 11 digs and four blocks.
Kvidahl currently leads the team with 3.35 kills/set (3rd
EIVA) and 0.32 service aces/set (5th EIVA). Classmates Andrew
Dentler (3.17 kills/set) and Mark Jones (3.12 kills/set) follow offensively,
while Javier Perez is averaging a team-best 10.37 assists/set (2nd
EIVA). Defensively, Piotr Dabrowski has a team and conference-best 1.39
blocks/set and Max McFarland leads the team with 2.16 digs/set.
Lewis enters Wednesday's contest with an 11-match winning
streak dating back to January 19. The Flyers swept No. 7 Ohio State last
Saturday to remain unbeaten in MIVA play. Geoff Powell leads the offense with
an average of 3.67 kills/set, while BJ Boldog has a team-best 10.06
assists/set. James Hoffman leads the team with 1.31 blocks/set.
