The Patriots return to the diamond this weekend, traveling to Hofstra for a CAA weekend series. Mason plays seven of its next games away from home, and is 3-5 in road games this season.
Mason has won five of its last seven, including a 3-2 win at Maryland on Tuesday. Capitalizing on two Terrapin errors that allowed three runs to score, the Patriots picked up their third-consecutive win over the Terps dating back to last season.
Leading the offense is the duo of Tucker Tobin and Blaise Fernandez, two of the three players on the roster to start all 24 games this season. Tobin is hitting a team-best .390 with 39 hits, six home runs, 23 RBI's and 21 runs scored, while Fernandez follows closely behind hitting .375 with a team-best 11 doubles and 36 hits, 16 RBI's and 14 runs scored.
Gaynor will make his seventh start of the season and take to the mound after pitching his first complete game at Mason a week ago against James Madison. Montefusco makes his sixth start after not being in the rotation a week ago, while Williams will make his second-consecutive weekend start of 2013.
Hofstra is 8-16 overall and winless in the conference at 0-6, dropping series to James Madison and Towson. They are in the midst of a seven game homestand, winning the first two games of the streak in a doubleheader against NYIT on Wednesday.
Kenny Jackson has started all 24 games for the Pride and is hitting a team-best .312 with 29 hits, three home runs, seven doubles and 15 runs scored. Jared Hammer is hitting .247 with a team-leading 13 RBI's, while Austin Nyman leads the team with 10 stolen bases. The Pride lead the conference with 59 stolen bases, 24 more than second place Georgia State (35).
Friday's starter David D'Errico and Sunday's starter David Jesch will be making their third starts of the season, while on Saturday Joe Burg will make his seventh start.
