NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. - On the eve of the 2013 Colonial
Athletic Association Women's Basketball Championship presented by Jani-King,
four Patriots were recognized at the CAA banquet earning All-Academic honors.
Seniors Joyous Tharrington and Amber Easter led the way with First and Second
Team recognition, respectively.
Tharrington, who has started all 29 games this season,
picked up All-Academic First Team honors. The Lynchburg, Va.,averages 8.8 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game.
A senior from Hampton, Va., Easter earned Second Team honors and has also started all 29 games thus far this
season. She is second on the team in scoring with a 9.6 points per game average
and leads the team in rebounding, securing 6.7 rebounds on average.
Two additional Patriots were named All-Academic Honorable
Mention in Rachel McNair and Janaa Pickard. Pickard and Tharrington both earned
Honorable Mention last season as Tharrington's First Team selection marks the
first for a Patriot since Angelee LaTouche in 2011.
Mason, earning the #8 seed, kicks off the CAA Tournament on
Thursday, March 14, against #9-seeded UNCW at 12 p.m. The tournament is being
held at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.
