RICHMOND, Va. - After
one of his most productive weeks of the season, George Mason freshman guard
Patrick Holloway was recognized for his performance by the Colonial Athletic
Association Monday, as he was selected Co-Rookie of the Week. It is Holloway's
first weekly conference honor and the fifth of the season for the Patriots.
Holloway made 8-of-12 field goals from 3-point range and
averaged 12.0 points off the bench in George Mason's 2-0 week. The Stafford,
Va., native was a career-best 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and scored a team-high
15 points as Mason rallied for a 60-58 victory over William & Mary on
Saturday. On Wednesday at Hofstra, Holloway was also 3-of-5 from three and
dished out a career-high four assists as the Patriots won at Hofstra. He entered
the week averaging just 3.7 points per game.
Sharing the award with Holloway was Towson's Jerome
Hairston. For the Patriots, Holloway is the second Rookie of the Week award
winner this season after forward Marko Gujanicic was recognized on Jan. 21.
Juniors Sherrod Wright (Dec. 10, Dec. 24) and Bryon Allen (Nov. 12) were also
awarded Player of the Week by the conference this year.
Holloway and the Patriots are back in action Tuesday night
in their home finale, hosting Hairston and the Towson Tigers at 7 p.m.
