FAIRFAX, Va. – Senior Julio Arjona, sophomore Taylor Washington and freshman Steffen Kraus were each named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University Division All-State Men's Soccer team for their efforts on the field this season.
Old Dominion's Tim Hopkinson was named the Player of the Year, while the University of Virginia's George Gelnovatch and Jordan Allen earned Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors, respectively.
This is the latest honor for the three Patriots, adding to their list of achievements following the 2013 campaign. Arjona scored two goals and added four assists in 19 games played this season, also earning All-Region second team honors this season. Washington additionally earned first team All-Conference honors in 2013 with two assists in all 21 games and was a member was of a backline that posted a conference-low 0.71 goals-against-average.
Kraus started all 21 games in net for Mason, recording nine shutouts en route to earning A-10 Rookie of the Year honors, All-Conference second team honors, All-Region second team honors and being named a third team Division 1 NSCAA/Continental Tire All-American. Kraus was also recently named as the goalkeeper on the Top Drawer Soccer All-Freshman second team.
The Virginia Sports Information Directors name 27 all-state teams in 15 sports each year, as well as an academic all-state squad and an all-sports champion in both the university and college divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
