The George Mason women's basketball (5-6) team fell short at UAB dropping a 67-64 decision Saturday afternoon in the Patriots fourth straight road game.

“Another frustrating, close road loss,” head coach Nyla Milleson said. “We really did some pretty good things, but there were two stretches where we kind of lost our focus, but we made a great effort in the end."

With the Patriots trailing 58-50 with just under four minutes to play, sophomore Taylor Brown did her best to take control of the game. Over the last four minutes of play Brown registered 12 of Mason's 14 points, but the late push just wasn't enough.

“Taylor made some great decisions today,” Milleson said. “We were a little stagnant on offense today, but I thought she did some great things.”

Brown led all scorers with 27 points, shooting a career-high 62-percent from the field. Junior Sandra Ngoie also put up career numbers with her first double-double as a Patriot with 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Fifth-year senior Janaa Pickard put up her sixth double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  

“We're getting better,” Milleson said. “Unfortunately it's not showing in the win-loss column right now, but the circumstances, the schedule that we're in, I'm very proud of this basketball team.”

The Patriots return to action Dec. 28 when they head to Johnson City, TN. to take on East Tennessee State.
