The George Mason men's basketball team heads to Honolulu, Hawai'i for the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic from December 22-23, 25. The Patriots open the three-day tournament facing No. 17 Iowa State on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 5:30 p.m. EST.
The fifth annual event features an eight-team field including Akron, Boise State, host Hawai'i, Iowa State, Oregon State, Saint Mary's and South Carolina in addition to the Patriots. The tournament will feature a bracket format with 12 games over three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through the bracket. All games will be played at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Iowa State enters the tournament undefeated, standing at 8-0 on the season, and currently ranks first in the nation, averaging 90.9 points per game. The Cyclones are ranked No. 17 in the latest The Associated Press poll and No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
