- The George Mason women's basketball team opens up its home season against Utah Valley on Thursday in the first ever meeting of the two programs. The Patriots are 1-1 all-time against WAC opponents.
- After dropping their regular season opener, 75-66 to East Carolina on Sunday, the Patriots bounced back to take a 74-67 win over Morehead State. The win over the Eagles was the first of the Nyla Milleson era.
- Redshirt sophomore, Taylor Brown leads the Patriots with an average of 18 points per-game while junior Talisha Watts leads Mason on the boards with nine rebounds per-game.
- Utah Valley lost eight letter winners to graduation or transfer, including two-time GWC Player of the Year Sammie Jensen.
