As the regular season comes to a close, the George Mason women's soccer team prepares for a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference matchups in Philadelphia this weekend against Saint Joseph's and La Salle. Mason currently sits in third place in the A-10 standings, while La Salle is sixth and Saint Joseph's is in a tie for ninth.
Mason is coming off a its seventh shutout victory of the season, defeating George Washington 1-0 last Friday. Emma Starr leads the offense with a team-best four goals as Liz Hodges follows closely with three. Jazmin Cardoso owns four assists to tie with Brenna Connell for the team-lead. Mason ranks third in the league in shutouts.
Saint Joseph's most recently fell in overtime at St. Bonaventure to move its conference mark to 2-3-1. Emily Gingrich and Mo Hawkins each boast a team-leading six goals to tie for eighth in the league. Goalkeeper Lauren Jancuska has played in all 16 games and accumulated a 1.43 GAA and 72 saves.
La Salle faces top-seeded Dayton on Friday night before hosting George Mason on Sunday. The Explorers are coming off a 3-0 shutout victory at Duquesne. Kelsey Haycock leads the team and is tied for the league-lead with 13 goals on the season.
