FAIRFAX, Va. – In a battle of the Revolutionary Rivalry Friday night, the George Mason women's soccer team held George Washington to just one shot while taking the contest 1-0 on Senior Night. Before kickoff, seniors Jazmin Cardoso, Nicole Clark, Lyndse Hokanson and Casey Vornadore were recognized as the team's four seniors this season.

Taking the corner, Cardoso positioned the kick perfectly as Liz Hodges headed the corner in for the 1-0 lead. Mason totaled five shots in the first half, while GW's only shot came from Mackenzie Cowley in the 35th minute, but went wide.
Hodges opened the second half looking to cushion Mason's lead, but the shot went wide as Sydney Mitchell rattled off two shots in less than a minute, but both attempts were off the mark. Sarah Hardison looked for a goal in the 72nd minute, but the Colonials were in position to block the shot. Mason attacked late in the period when Hodges forced Nicole Ulrick into the lone save of the half and second of the contest in the 79th minute and Mitchell tried to convert in the 82nd minute of play, but the shot hit the crossbar.
GW was held without a shot on goal for the full 90 minutes and took just one shot in the game, coming in the first half. Mason totaled 12 shots, three on goal. For the contest, Hodges took three shots and placed two on goal, while Emma Starr registered Mason's other shot on goal. Hokanson picked up the win on Senior Night as Mason's strong defense kept the Colonials without a shot on goal.
The match also counted towards the Revolutionary Rivalry, which pits George Mason and George Washington against each other in a year-long, all-sports competition. The Tri-Corner Hat Trophy will be awarded based on a point system with points given to the victor in each of the 16 A-10 sports in which the schools compete.
