The George Mason women's volleyball team opoens up a three-match road swing at VCU on Friday night, the second matchup between the in-state rivals a week.
Mason is coming off its second Atlantic 10 Conference win of the season, a sweep of La Salle at home on Saturday night. One day earlier, Mason pushed the Rams to the brink but VCU took a five-set victory in Fairfax. The Patriots are led on offense by three underclassmen: sophomore Morghan Martin (177.5 points), freshman Jessie Greenslade (174) and redshirt sophomore Lolade Owokoniran (173), who also ranks ninth in the nation in blocks per set (1.74).
VCU had a seven-match winning streak snapped on Saturday night in the nation's capital, falling to George Washington in five sets. The Rams sit alone atop the A-10 standings at 5-1, and are led on offense by Romana Kriskova's 487 points, the fourth-highest total in the nation.
Following Friday's match, the Patriots will take on the GW Colonials on Sunday afternoon, with first serve from the Smith Center scheduled for 1 p.m.
