Notes: Mason returns to the
court on Saturday, hosting non-conference opponent Loyola-Chicago at 7:00 p.m.
at The RAC. The Ramblers lead the all-time series, 12-3, with Mason's last win
coming during the 2008 season.
The Patriots
last played on January 9, sweeping a three-set match with Grand Canyon
University at home. Mason hit a crisp .302 for the match and posted 16 blocks while
limiting Grand Canyon to just .058 hitting for the match. Several Patriots came
close to tying single-season career highs, including senior Piotr Dabrowski
(10), Javier Perez
(6) and Michael Kvidahl (5) in blocks. Shaun Sibley also added five blocks and
seven kills, while Andrew
Dentler had a game-high 11 kills. Javier Perez finished with a
team-best 29 assists.
Early in the
season, Dabrowski leads the team and EIVA averaging 1.90 blocks/set. Dentler
has a team-best 3.44 kills/set (2nd EIVA) while Perez averages 9.40
assists/set (4th EIVA).
The Ramblers
are 2-3 on the season and will face EIVA foe St. Francis (Pa.) on Friday before
making the trip to Fairfax. Loyola dropped its first three matches of the
season but has since rebounded to win two consecutive matches, most recently
topping Carthage College, 3-0, on Wednesday.
Junior
opposite Joseph Smalzer leads the team with an average of 3.44 kills/set, while
freshman setter Diego Rodriquez averages 10.29 assists/set and senior middle
hitter Eric Daliege has a team-best 1.08 blocks/set.
