NEWS & NOTES
The George Mason women's soccer team opens regular season play visiting St. John's Friday night at 7 p.m. The Patriots and Red Storm opened regular season play against each other last season in Fairfax with the Red Storm taking the decision, 2-1.

Mason returns seven starters from last season's squad that posted an overall mark of 8-6-6. The Patriots were predicted to finish sixth in the coaches CAA preseason poll as Tiana Kallenberger was tabbed to the preseason squad and Mary Kate Lowry was named honorable mention.

St. John's finished last season 9-9-1, including a 6-3-1 mark at home. The Red Storm returned 20 letterwinners including four starters to the 2012 squad, while adding four newcomers. In the preseason coaches poll, St. John's was predicted to finish sixth in the BIG EAST as junior Amy Marron was named to the preseason team.
