RICHMOND, Va. - Senior forward Tiana Kallenberger was
selected to the Colonial Athletic Association's women's soccer All-Preseason team
as announced by the conference office Wednesday. Classmate Mary Kate Lowry was
named Honorable Mention, as the honorees were determined by a vote of the
league's head coaches.
Both Patriots earned All-CAA recognition last season, with
Kallenberger picking up second-team honors and Lowry receiving third-team
selection. Kallenberger led the team in goals scored with seven and accumulated
22 points adding a team-best eight assists. Lowry finished the season with a
goal at Old Dominion and assisted on Mason's first goal against Penn. Both
players started all 20 matches for the Patriots last season.
William and Mary led all schools placing three players on
the preseason team including preseason player of the year selection Mallory
Schaffer. Joining Schaffer at midfield on the preseason All-CAA women's soccer
team are William & Mary senior Cortlyn Bristol and UNCW senior Stephanie
Rose. Five forwards, all of whom received All-CAA honors last season, are on
the 2012 preseason squad alongside Kallenberger. Georgia State junior Jewel
Evans joins Delaware senior Ali Miller, Northeastern senior Greta Samuelsdottir
and James Madison junior Lauren Wilson.
On defense are four players who were all-conference award
winners in 2011: William & Mary sophomore Emily Fredrikson, Drexel senior
Biz Matta, James Madison junior Becky Sparks and Hofstra senior Brooke
Bendernagel. Rounding out the squad is Drexel sophomore goalkeeper Eve Badana.
Joining Lowry on the honorable mention team are Northeastern's
sophomore goalkeeper Paige Burnett, William & Mary sophomore forward Emory
Camper, midfielders Tania Domingos and
Chelsea Duffy of Delaware, James Madison senior midfielder Katie Menzie and
Towson senior forward Cheyenne Skidmore.
The Patriots open regular season play traveling
to St. John's on Friday, August 17 for a 7 p.m. matchup. The 2012 Fall Sports
