COLORADO
SPRINGS, Colo. - George Mason rising sophomore Hunter Stevens has been selected
to participate in USA Volleyball High Performance Men's Junior A2 Program this
summer.
The A2 Men's
Junior program, which is comprised of 24 athletes from across the country, will
take place on August 17-22 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs,
Colorado. The team is coached by Bill Ferguson of the University of Southern
California.
"Hunter has
made big strides this year and it is a testament to his hard work that he has
earned his way into the USA High Performance Pipeline," said Mason Head Coach
Fred Chao. "Playing in every match this past season has given him valuable
experience that he needed to improve and to prepare for the next challenges."
Stevens
started all 30 matches for the Patriots during his freshman campaign, ranking
second on the team with 119 blocks and fifth with 126 kills. He was just one of
two players to compete in all 120 sets for Mason.
The men's
volleyball team finished its 2012 campaign with a 13-17 record, advancing to
the finals of the EIVA Tournament where it fell to Penn State, 3-1.
