The No. 3 seed George
Mason Patriots will square off with the No. 2 seed Harvard Crimson on Thursday
evening at Rec Hall on the campus of Penn State in the first semifinal match of
the EIVA Tournament.
The winner will advance to the championship match on Saturday at 7:00 pm where they
will face the victor from the No. 1 Penn State vs. No. 4 Princeton match, also played on Thursday evening.
Mason and Harvard split the season series, as Mason swept Harvard
3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 26-24) in Cambridge in February before the Crimson traveled
to The RAC and took a five set decision over the Patriots, 3-2 (25-18, 22-25,
23-25, 25-20, 17-15) in March.
The Patriots have three All-EIVA honorees on their roster, as junior
outside hitter Michael
Kvidahl earned First Team All-EIVA accolades for the first time in
his career, while junior middle blocker Piotr Dabrowski and junior outside
hitter Mark Jones
were both tabbed to the second team.
Harvard also had three players named to the All-EIVA squad in
addition to Head Coach Brian Baise being named the Bob Sweeney EIVA Coach of
the Year. Senior outside hitter Matt Jones and freshman outside hitter D.J.
White received first team honors, while junior setter Rob Lothman was named to
the second team.
