FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason women's basketball guard Taleia
Moton continues to receive accolades for her senior campaign in which the Fort
Washington, Md. native led the Patriots with a 20.7 points per game average.
Moton was named a Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) University
Division First Team selection.
Last month, Moton was honored by the Richmond Times-Dispatch in addition to earning ECAC All-Star Second
Team honors. Moton capped her senior season with All-Colonial Athletic
Association First Team honors. The senior finished her two-year playing career
at Mason with 1,007 career points, becoming the quickest player in George Mason
women's basketball program history to surpass the 1,000-career points mark.
Moton was joined by fellow CAA student-athlete Courtney Hurt
as the league's two representatives on the first team. In addition, Devon Brown
of Liberty, Richmond's Abby Oliver and Jericka Jenkins of Hampton were named to
the first team.
This marks the first VaSID recognition for a Patriot since
Jen Derevjanik was named to the first team in 2003-04. Vernessa Neamo earned
second team honors the same season.
