WICHITA, Kan. - George Mason junior reliever Chris O'Grady
has been named to the midseason watch list for the 2012 NCBWA Stopper of the
Year Award.
O'Grady is one of 45 players named to the midseason watch
list, which goes to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I

Appearing in 17 games out of the bullpen this season, O'Grady has
compiled a 1-0 record with a CAA-best 10 saves (T-5th nationally) and 0.36 ERA. In 24.2 innings of
work he has given up just one run on 12 hits and has struck out
35. Opposing hitters are batting just .146 against O'Grady.
O'Grady has pitched in 44 games in his career, with 28 of
those appearances coming in relief, and has a 7-4 record with 11 saves. He has
thrown 140.2 innings in his collegiate career and has allowed 145 hits while
striking out 140.
Nominations for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award were
made by baseball sports information/media relations contacts around the
country. At the conclusion of the regular season, the Division I national saves
leader and four other relief pitching standouts will be selected as finalists
and released Wednesday, June 6, prior to start of the NCAA Super Regional tournament
competition.
The NCBWA's All-America committee will select the winner,
with this year's recipient to be announced during the 2012 College World
Series.
O'Grady and the Patriots are back in action this weekend
hosting Old Dominion. The weekend series begins at 3:00 pm on Friday, and
continues on Saturday at 2:00 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm.
