The George Mason men's volleyball team concludes regular season action with four home contests over the next two weeks, including matches against NJIT and No. 10 Ohio State this weekend.

The team will be collecting pasta sauce as part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) "Lending a Helping Hand" canned food drive at both matches. All fans are encouraged to bring a jar of pasta sauce that will be donated to the St. Leo's Catholic Church food pantry, which provides food to anyone with need in the local community.  

Reigning EIVA Defensive Player of the Week Piotr Dabrowski continues to lead Mason at the net with an average of 1.53 blocks/set, good for fourth in the nation and second in the conference. The team also ranks in the Top-10 nationally with an average of 2.79 blocks/set (7th) and 9.27 digs/set (10th).

Junior outside hitter Mark Jones paces the offense with 3.22 kills/set, and junior setter Javier Perez is averaging 10.00 assists/set.

The Patriots and Highlanders met a week ago in New Jersey, with the Patriots earning the 3-0 sweep. The Patriots won with set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-21. They outhit the Highlanders .394 to .113, while also dominating the kills (47-29) and blocks (12-1) columns. Michael Kvidahl had a game-high 18 kills, while Javier Perez dished out a game-best 37 assists and Piotr Dabrowski added a game-high eight blocks.

NJIT will host Harvard on Friday for senior day before traveling to Fairfax on Saturday.

Freshman outside hitter TJ Jurko leads the team with 3.48 kills/set, junior setter Matthew Lui has a team-high 7.38 assists/set and junior right side Doug Battersby averages a team-best 0.79 blocks/set. Junior libero Brady Smith ranks second nationally with 2.68 digs/set, while the team is third in the nation, averaging 9.65 digs/set.

Mason and Ohio State are meeting for the second time this season. The Buckeyes escaped with a 3-2 win at home earlier this season.

The Buckeyes have won five consecutive matches and will host IPFW on Friday before facing Mason in Fairfax.

Senior opposite hitter Shawn Sangrey has the best kills average in the nation, averaging 4.86 kills/set. His main setup man, redshirt freshman setter Peter Heinen, averages 10.40 assists/set, and junior middle blocker Grayson Overman stands 10th nationally with 1.29 blocks/set.
