The George Mason
lacrosse team plays its final regular season home contest of 2012 on Friday evening welcoming Old Dominion to George Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. The Patriots and Lady Monarchs have met 23 times in program history with ODU leading the all-time series, 15-8.
Mason is coming off a pair of difficult losses at home in CAA action, most recently falling to Hofstra. Emily Ellisen leads five double-digit goal scorers on the team with 24 goals on the season, while Mary Schwartz boasts 15 goals and a team-best 12 assists. Kiersten Jauschnegg, who ranks seventh in the nation in caused turnovers, leads Mason with 25 on the year.
Old Dominion enters Friday night's contest also with a pair of losses over the weekend, falling to Delaware and Towson, respectively. As a team, the Lady Monarchs rank 12th in the nation in ground balls (17.85 avg) and 16th in caused turnovers (8.69 avg). Lisa Bernardini leads ODU with a team-best 28 goals on the season, while goalkeeper Sarah Geary has earned the majority of playing time in cage, accumulating 88 saves and 137 goals against. Geary ranks 33rd in the nation in saves.
