ERIE, Pa. - Men's volleyball junior middle blocker Piotr Dabrowski was named the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday evening.
This is the second honor this season for Dabrowski.
Dabrowski was quite a defensive presence at the net for the
Patriots en route to a 2-1 week. Mason defeated Grand Canyon, 3-1, on Monday evening, lost to Harvard, 2-3, in a closely contested battle on Friday and then swept Sacred Heart on Saturday, 3-0.
In Mason's first match of the week versus Grand Canyon, Dabrowski
posted seven blocks. He followed that up with a 10 block, four
dig performance in a five set loss to conference foe Harvard. Dabrowski
bookended the week with another seven blocks in the sweep of Sacred Heart. For the
week he averaged 2.0 blocks and 0.33 digs per set.
Currently he stands second in the conference and fifth nationally with an average of 1.51 blocks/set.
The Patriots return to action on Saturday, traveling to Princeton for a 3:00 pm affair.
