Playing its final regular season road contest of the 2011-12 season, the George Mason women's basketball team travels to VCU for a 2 p.m. Sunday tip in the Verizon Wireless Arena. The Patriots took the first matchup against the Rams in the Patriot Center this season by a 71-58 decision. VCU, however, has won nine of the past 11 meetings between the two programs.
Mason is coming off a loss at No. 8/9 Delaware to open this two-game road swing. Taleia Moton paced the Patriot offense with 18 points, while Joyous Tharrington chipped in a career-high 10. Moton continues to lead Mason in scoring on the season, owning a 20.9 points per game average, ranking 11th in the nation and third in the CAA. Amber Easter follows averaging 11.3 points per game and leads the team on the glass, pulling down 6.5 rebounds on average.
VCU comes into Sunday's matchup on a two-game win streak, most recently using a strong second half to defeat Georgia State, 73-61. The Rams are paced in scoring by the league's second leading scorer in Courtney Hurt who averages 22.2 points per game and 12.9 rebounds per game. Andrea Barbour also adds double-figures, averaging 16.4 points per game.
