NEWS & NOTES
The George Mason women's basketball team returns home for a brief stay welcoming the Georgia State Panthers Sunday afternoon at a special noon tip as the game will be telecast on CSN. Mason will look to snap a two-game skid, while GSU enters the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Mason and Georgia State met three times last season with both teams taking their home decision in regular season play before the Panthers defeated the Patriots in the opening round of the CAA Tournament.
Mason is coming off a tough overtime loss at Towson on Thursday night. The Patriots and Tigers worked through 12 tied scores and 10 lead changes before Towson prevailed in the end by a mere two points. Evelyn Lewis and Taleia Moton paced the Patriot offense with 15 points each. Moton continues to lead Mason offensively this season, owning a 20.6 points per game average to rank 12th in the nation and third in the CAA. Amber Easter and Evelyn Lewis lead Mason on the rebounding edge with 6.3 and 6.2 rebounds per game averages, respectively.
Georgia State comes to the Patriot Center having most recently dropped a decision at Northeastern. The Panthers' lone conference win of the season came at home earlier this month against the Huskies. Kendra Long and Chan Harris each average double-figure scoring numbers to lead the Tigers offensively, while Harris also leads on the glass, pulling down 8.3 rebounds per game on average.
